Megan Lekas is the owner of the Learning and Therapy CornerShe graduated from Denison University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child Psychology.  Megan continued her education and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Towson University. In 1999, Megan graduated from Loyola College with her Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. 

Megan has extensive experience evaluating and treating communication disorders in children of all ages in public schools, private schools, clinic, and private settings.  She is a certified Phono-Graphix® Reading Therapist, a member of the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA), and a member of the Maryland Speech Hearing Association.  Megan is licensed in the state of Maryland and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA.  

Megan has always enjoyed working with and being around children.  She has two young children of her own giving her the ability to relate to her clients and their families both from professional and personal perspectives.

Meghan Elgert is a Speech Language Pathologist and certified Reading Therapist at Learning and Therapy Corner.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Towson University in 2005 and recently received her Masters of Science in Speech-Language pathology from Loyola College.
Meghan has experience working with individuals with language and learning disabilities of all ages both in school and in one-on-one sessions.  She is a certified Phono-Graphix® reading therapist and has experience providing reading therapy to children from 5-18 years of age.  As an avid reader and book lover herself, Meghan has always held a passion for working with children and adolescents with reading difficulties.  Meghan is a certified member of the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed in the state of Maryland.

Becky DiCocco received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Towson University.  In 2003, she graduated from Loyola College with her Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  She is a member of the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA), and a member of the Maryland Speech Hearing Association.  Becky is licensed in the state of Maryland and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA.
    Becky has extensive experience evaluating and treating children diagnosed with autism in both school and home-based settings.  She is trained in Picture Exchange System Communication, SCERTS and ABA discrete trial. She focuses on using the strengths and interests of the child to improve their ability to develop communication skills as well as functional life-skills that promote independence. Becky strongly believes in the importance of early intervention and strong family support to promote better success.  She focuses on teaching parents and caregivers how to promote communication in a variety of environments in order to promote generalization. Her professional goal is to improve a child’s ability to communicate as well as improve their interaction within their environment and with family.

Megan Crowley completed her undergraduate studies at Towson University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology as well as Psychology.  In 1999, she graduated from Towson with her Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  Megan is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Association of Baltimore City Speech-Language Pathologists (ABCSLP).  She is licensed in the state of Maryland and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA.

Megan has significant experience evaluating and providing therapy for children who have a variety of speech, language, and learning disabilities. She worked with preschool, elementary, and middle school-aged children in the public schools for seven years prior to enjoying being home full-time with her two daughters.  Watching her own children go through preschool and early elementary school has heightened her awareness of the challenges that every child faces in today’s classroom on a daily basis.  She is enthusiastic about helping children build their skills in ways that are both fun and functional, so they can be successful communicators in and out of the classroom.

Barbara Phoebus is an extremely experienced speech-language pathologist who has worked in early intervention and with elementary age students.

Her placements have included the Head Start Program, Baltimore City Public Schools, and Baltimore County Public Schools. Currently, she works in an elementary school in Baltimore County.

She has worked with children who have language delays, hearing impairments, speech delays, autism, and developmental delays. Barbara holds a master's degree in speech-language pathology and is a member of the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA).

Barbara is licensed in the state of Maryland and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA. She is certified in PROMPT, a methodology used for students with limited verbal language or severe speech delays including apraxia. Barbara believes in a multi- modality approach to speech and language learning and the importance of the link between language and literacy.

Recently, she has been nominated for the 2009 Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Award for Excellence in Education. Barbara lives with her husband in close proximity to her 3 daughters’ families including 6 (soon to be 7) grandchildren.

Melissa Ward

Melissa received her degree from Elizabethtown College in 2006, well-known for their sound and well-rounded music therapy program. Melissa completed her internship at Kennedy Krieger School, which is part of an institute known throughout the world for their work with individuals with disabilities.

She obtained her credentials, MT-BC (Music Therapist - Board Certified) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists which upholds standards that are equal to or above state licensure standards. Through involvement with fundraising for
autism research and participation in various autism support groups, Melissa has expanded her work related to autism awareness. 

An active member of the American Music Therapy Association, Melissa keeps involved in her profession and continues her education to keep her skills fresh. When not involved with work, Melissa and her husband enjoy spending time with their
horses, competing at shows and enjoying trail riding throughout MD and PA.  She also continues to enjoy playing the piano which was her main instrument throughout college.  Participating in her church choir has also brought Melissa
enjoyment when she is not working with clients.

Heather Sirota received a Bachelor of Music Therapy degree from Shenandoah University. Heather completed her internship at Kennedy Krieger School in Baltimore, MD. She acquired the credentials MT-BC in 2008, after completing her degree program. Heather has continued on at Kennedy Krieger School as a music therapist and continues to develop and expand her efforts into the community through her work at Augmenting Ability.
